Updated Cancellation Policy:
LE COQ ROYAL continues to operate it's in-house private Chef service, UK wide
From now on, and in accordance with the updated roadmap and measures set out by the government relating to easing Covid-19 restrictions, LE COQ ROYAL's Chefs, as independent tradespeople, are offering their in-house and off-premises private Chef services for all party sizes indoors and outdoors.
This in accordance with the government's roadmap. We respectfully require that our guests adhere to the local guidelines in place and ensure that the party is in accordance with said restrictions, as well as follow the sanitary precautions set out below.
Is Hiring a Private Chef at Home Within the Guidelines?
As LE COQ ROYAL's chef is at work and we’re providing you with a service, current guidelines allow our private chef to safely enter a home and cook in the kitchen. Our COVID-19 policies are based around protecting our private chefs and in turn making sure they don’t put anyone else they have contact with at risk.
The number of people eating doesn’t directly impact on our personal chef’s safety as they are working in the kitchen, which they will have ‘made safe’ before they start cooking and your personal chef does not form part of the social group either. Therefore, you do not need to include the private chef within the limitations on the number of people and households allowed in the home under any current guidelines.
In summary, we understand that during these times our customers want to hire a private chef experience with LE COQ ROYAL in order to maintain some form of normality and the last thing they want is an awkward non personable service. So our goal is to try and maintain the service as close as we can to normal with the only major change directly impacting guests being less chef interaction outside of the kitchen.
Therefore, over the coming weeks and months we’d be delighted to continue to service you with
our private chef experience at home or whilst you’re away on holiday, at any time, whenever you need us. If you have any further questions or concerns prior to booking with us please email our events team on
info@lecoqroyal.co.uk.
Our private chefs have been given more stringent operational procedures to follow to ensure your safety as well as their own. We would respectfully ask you to follow the below requests to ensure we can deliver your event to the highest level and still ensure you have a safe and enjoyable evening;
Sanitary precautions
To ensure the safety of guests and staff, our Chefs have been briefed on all necessary sanitary measures and are fully trained on hygiene and food safety standards. Our chefs have also prepared themselves by taking extra measures in order to carry out their work under optimal sanitary conditions. Masks and gloves will be required for all events for our Chefs. We will also ask that Chefs maintain social distancing measures as per government guidelines at all times.
Please ensure the following prior and during your event:
- Please do not ask the Chef the remove their mask during the event
- Please ensure a clean kitchen workspace upon the Chef's arrival
- Please vacate the cooking area whilst the Chef is operating, and until their departure.
- Please ensure a clean working space for the chef on their arrival
- Refrain from shaking hands with the chefs on arrival or departure and maintain, as best you can, 2 metres distancing
- We don’t insist that chefs have to wear a mask if clients would prefer they didn’t, and they will always ask you what you would prefer on their arrival. However, some chefs will insist on wearing one if they aren’t able to adequately social distance during the event.
- Allow space for the chef to enter the property to unload and pack up at the end before they leave
- Provide an area where the chef can change and use facilities separate from the other guests on arrival
- In order to maintain social distancing, we request that guests briefly retire from the dining table when you are ready for the plates to be cleared and also before each course is served to the table
- We would also request that handwash is provided in the kitchen and toilet facilities.
- Most importantly, should you, or any of your household or guests, show any of the following symptoms before or on the day of the event, you must inform the team immediately
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
Our personal chefs work to the highest level of personal hygiene and are all trained in food hygiene, but these extra points will help us ensure that they can carry out their obligations safely and without affecting your overall experience of superb food and excellent service.
We have relaxed our cancellation policy significantly for any customers impacted by COVID-19. If you process a private chef booking with us and then governmental guidelines in your area change, preventing your event from going ahead, you now have a number of options.
If your private chef event is more than 48 hours away, you can either choose to cancel it completely and request a full refund minus the £50/60€ deposit and we will put an amount equal to your deposit as credit on your LE COQ ROYALs account to use against your next booking so you don’t lose anything. Or you can move your event to a different date and location for no extra charge.
If your cancellation occurs less than 48 hours before the event then you can still move your event to a different date and/or location and you will incur no penalty or additional charges for this other than additional travel if the location changes to one that is more remote. If you choose to cancel, we’ll still honour the full value of everything you’ve paid to us as a credit and when you rebook you won’t lose anything even though LE COQ ROYAL will have incurred full food, preparation and chef costs at this stage.
Do note that as we’re not a venue or restaurant and we’re not hosting the event, we are not in a position to be able to police our customers with the variables involved regarding households and bubbles and the type of event it is. Therefore, we trust that our clients will be following the guidelines in their area and making the right decisions for their group whilst understanding the risks involved.
